What is DSA?
A Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA) needs assessment is used to identify equipment and support to help your studies in higher education.

Assistive Technology: Assistive technology (AT) includes any equipment (including computing equipment) or software program, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve learning. A DSA assessment will identify appropriate AT to support neurodiverse students, students with musculoskeletal conditions, vision impairments, hearing loss, mental health issues and a range of physical conditions.

Your DSA will fund ergonomic workspace equipment where there are difficulties with using a conventional workspace due to your disability.

A Specialist 1:1 study skills tutor will support more effective and efficient study by providing tailored tuition. Students will gain insight into their learning styles, embrace their strengths and work on strategies to overcome challenges.
A Specialist Mentor provides confidential one-to-one wellbeing support, to build confidence with study and wider life at university. Including Support with motivation and morale, also emotional support with a focus on enabling the development of emotional awareness and wellbeing strategies.
Note taking will provide support in lectures with taking notes.

Your DSA can also be used to support travel, accommodation costs or any additional costs that arise associated with your disability that are study related.
